1. Three Lakes Park - 400 Sausiluta Dr, Richmond, VA 23227
   True to its name, Three Lakes Park is home to three picturesque fishing lakes, all of them stocked with bass, catfish, sunfish, and bluegill. It's a great place to take kids fishing, with ample shore access, trails around the lakes, and accessible fishing piers. No boats are allowed on the lakes, which ensures a quiet, peaceful fishing trip. Three Lakes Park is also home to a fascinating Nature Center, which includes an aquarium attached to one of the three lakes that offer a glimpse into the underwater world of the native fish. 2. Pocahontas State Park - 10301 State Park Rd, Chesterfield, VA 23832
   Just 20 miles outside Richmond and surrounded by Chesterfield County homes for sale, Pocahontas State Park is one of the top destinations in the area for fishing, canoeing, and camping. The centerpiece of the park is Swift Creek Lake, a long, narrow man-made lake with shady, tree-lined shores and an abundance of fishing opportunities. 3. Ancarrow's Landing - 1200 Brander St, Richmond, VA 23224
   The James River flows more than 400 miles across the state of Virginia, and some of the river's best fishing opportunities are right here in Richmond (there's a reason it's called the River City). Ancarrow's Landing, a Richmond park with open access to the riverbank, is one of the most popular spots for local anglers. who pull massive flathead catfish from the river's depths in summer.
   
   
4. Belle Isle - James R. at US 1/301, Richmond, VA 23219
   A 54-acre island surrounded by the James River, Belle Isle is owned by the city of Richmond and maintained as a city park. Perhaps the most scenic fishing spot on the James, the island is crisscrossed by hiking trails and offers a spectacular view of the city skyline. Belle Isle is a popular spot for hikers and cyclists as well as fishers, who often paddle around the island by kayak, casting for bass around its rocky shoreline. 
   
   
5. Robious Landing Park - 3800 James River Rd, Midlothian, VA 23113
   A popular James River access site in the community of Midlothian, Robious Landing Park provides plenty of bank access for shore fishing, as well as launch facilities for fishing boats. This section of the James River is known for excellent smallmouth bass fishing, along with catfish and bluegill. Overhanging sycamores along the shore provide cover for fish, and it's not uncommon to see eagles and ospreys circling overhead.
